Once on the apron, all helicopters should taxi to and from the fuel stand under guidance from the marshaller.

Once on the apron, all helicopters should self-position and taxi to and from the allocated stand.

Not all stands are separated for all helicopter types. Stands will be allocated by A/G operator.

Portland Heliport has no taxiway. The apron is surrounded by solid white border.

EGDP AD 3.18  RADIO NAVIGATION AND LANDING AIDS

EGDP AD 3.19  LOCAL HELIPORT REGULATIONS

1  Ground Movement
  1. Helicopters must hover taxi over the flood gate to and from the apron and FATO. Once on the apron, all helicopters should taxi to and from the fuel stand under guidance from the marshaller. Once on the apron, all helicopters should self-position and ground taxi to and from the allocated stand.

  2. Aircraft on the ground/hover in the helicopter dispersal area should give way to aircraft taxiing in. If sufficient separation between aircraft cannot be maintained, arriving aircraft should conduct circuits to the North and allow departing aircraft to clear the area.

2  Heliport Operations
  1. Helicopters will primarily be operated by HeliOperations (HeliOps) delivering search and rescue (SAR) training. All visiting aircraft to Portland Heliport are PPR, call 01305-700001 or email bookings@helioperations.co.uk.

3  Training
  1. Search and rescue (SAR) training, military flying training and military operational training can be conducted by PPR. Civil flying training can be conducted by PPR.

EGDP AD 3.20  NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES

1  General
  1. All ground running should generally be undertaken on the secondary TLOF area.

  2. The built-up area to the South/East of Portland Aerodrome should not be overflown below 1000 FT.

  3. Minimise overland low flying within 10 NM of Portland Heliport.

  4. Minimise unnecessary engine running particularly during unsociable hours.

  5. Avoid unnecessary overflight of the Isle of Portland and any adjacent built up areas.

  6. Avoid overflying the marina to the North and North West of the heliport.

EGDP AD 3.21  FLIGHT PROCEDURES

1  Arriving and Departing
  1. All approaches and departures to the Heliport are conducted at the aircraft commander’s discretion. There is a 2 M perimeter fence (orange) marked by red hazard lights in line with the FATO. Pilots are to make their approach to H20 & H02 to the middle of the TLOF.

  2. There is a public right of way on the immediate undershoot to H20, therefore if approaching H20 or departing H02 crews, should plan to overfly the right of way as high as is safely possible to minimize any downwash effects.

  3. Following approach to the TLOF, aircraft are then to hover taxi over the raised grass bank to the ‘H’ in the dispersal area, then to a parking spot or refuelling stand.

  4. All ground taxi capable aircraft should land and take off at the ‘H’, and ground taxi to and from a stand or the Refuel Spot under guidance from the marshaller.

  5. All aircraft are requested to be downwash aware whilst manoeuvring on the Heliport.

  6. A good lookout should be maintained when approaching/departing from Chesil Bank direction as this area is used by paragliders, recreational kites and RPAS.

  7. Aircraft arriving via H20 or departing via H02 should exercise caution as vessels have been observed to cross the approach/departure path.

2  Circuit Procedures
  1. 02 Left Hand - 1000 FT QNH;
    20 Right Hand - 1000 FT QNH.

3  VFR and Special VFR Flights
  1. All flights are to be conducted under VFR.

EGDP AD 3.22  ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

1  General
  1. Possible high masted vessels on the approach to H20.

  2. Large vessels in the harbour on the approach to H20.

  3. Possible paragliders 1-2 KM South-South East of the heliport.
